Service Shoes Black Calf
These service shoes use a Navy Last, a copy of the US Navy wooden last used in the 1940s and 1950s around the time of WWII. The shoes are characterized by a fitting that feels like the arch is being pushed up from the bottom. Each pair is hand-fitted by a craftsman, so that the supple curves of the wooden last are reflected in the shape of the shoe without any loss.
The upper is made of lacing calf leather by Daito Roman Co., Ltd., which is standard for Arch Kelly. Its fine texture and wrinkled appearance that evokes a vintage feel are its charms.
The inside is printed in a consumer product format. Under the ARCH KERRY SHOE CO. stamp, the size is indicated with numbers. (490=9.0D)
The shoes feature 6 eyelets and a T-shaped backstay, which were commonly seen in 40s service shoes. They are a reproduction of a rare era of vintage service shoes that are particularly highly regarded.
